The short version of this page: almost everything you'd want to change lives in Settings inside the Haklo app. Subscription itself is managed by your phone's app store (Apple or Google), with deep links from inside Haklo to get you there.
This page is the consolidated "where do I change X" reference for the common ones.
Your account
Changing your password
In the app: Settings → Change Password. New password needs to be at least 6 characters, entered twice. You'll get a confirmation when it updates.
If you can't sign in because you've forgotten your password, use the Forgot password? link on the sign-in screen — Haklo will email you a reset link.
Changing your display name or emoji
Settings → Family Members → tap your row. You can update your display name, the emoji that follows you through the app, and your role (within the limits of what your family allows — for instance, only a parent or guardian can change another adult to Parent).
Switching accounts
Haklo supports one signed-in account per device at a time. To switch, sign out from Settings → Sign Out, then sign in with the other email.
Your family
These settings are visible to anyone in the family but only editable by parents and guardians.
Changing the family name
Settings → Family Settings → Family Name. Edit and tap save.
Changing the meeting day
Settings → Family Settings → Meeting Day. Pick a different day. The new day is the one Haklo uses as your weekly anchor — but you can run a gathering on a different day any week without changing this setting.
Heard / ritual settings
If you want the optional Heard prompt card to appear (off by default), or want to change which day or time it appears, those settings live in Settings → Heard. See the Heard page for what the prompt card does.
Family members
Adding a member after your family is set up
Settings → Family Members → Add Member. Fill in name, emoji, and role; if it's a child under 13, you'll walk through the parental-consent screen first. The new member is added immediately as a profile in your family. To give them their own account, send them an invite (next).
Inviting a member to use the app on their own
Settings → Family Members → tap their row → Send Invite. Enter the email address you want to send the invite to; Haklo emails them a link. When they tap it, they walk through the join flow and end up in your family.
You can re-send the invite if it expires or gets lost. There's no limit on how many times you can resend.
Changing someone's role
Settings → Family Members → tap their row → Role. Select the new role and save. You'd typically use this to age up a teen to young adult, or to promote a guardian to parent.
Removing a family member
Settings → Family Members → tap their row → Remove (red). This deletes their check-ins, priorities, goals, and kindness entries from the family record. This cannot be undone.
For an adult or teen who has their own account, removing them from the family doesn't delete their Haklo account itself — it just removes them from this family's roster.
Plus subscription
Checking your Plus status
Settings → Plus. This row shows whether your family is on Plus, when the current period ends, and a Manage Subscription button that deep-links to your phone's subscription settings.
Subscribing to Plus
Settings → Learn about Plus → Subscribe, or open the Coaching tab while on the free plan and tap subscribe from the upgrade screen. Either path takes you through your phone's app-store subscription flow. See Haklo Plus for what's included and pricing.
Switching between monthly and annual
Both plan switches happen in the app store, not inside Haklo. Settings → Plus → Manage Subscription deep-links you to the right place; Apple and Google both let you switch between monthly and annual on the same product without re-subscribing.
Canceling Plus
Same path: Settings → Plus → Manage Subscription, then cancel renewal in the app store.
You'll keep Plus until the end of the period you've already paid for. After that, the Coaching tab returns to the upgrade screen and gathering recaps go back to the structured-record-only format. Past coaching messages stay in the family record — they're not deleted when you cancel.
Restoring on a new device
Settings → Plus → Restore Purchases. The app store will check whether you're already subscribed under your account and restore Plus on the new device.
Leaving a family or deleting your account
These are different actions. Make sure you mean the right one.
Leaving a family
Settings → Account → Leave Family. This removes you from the current family's roster going forward. Gatherings you've already participated in remain in the family's record (the multi-author memoir model — see the privacy page for the full reasoning).
If you're the last member of a family, leaving deletes the family and all its data. You'll get an explicit warning before this happens.
After leaving, your Haklo account itself still exists. You can join a different family with a new invite, or create a new family of your own.
Deleting your Haklo account entirely
Settings → Account → Delete Account, or delete-account from this site. We confirm the request and proceed within a reasonable window.
What gets deleted: your account credentials and the content you authored across any family — your gathering responses, your Heard notes, your reflections. What stays: entries that other family members wrote that mention you, because those are their authored content. See the privacy page for the full deletion model.
If you have an active Plus subscription, cancel it in your app store first — Apple and Google manage subscription billing, and deleting your Haklo account doesn't automatically cancel the underlying subscription on the store side.
A few situations that come up
I forgot my password
On the sign-in screen, tap Forgot password? and enter the email you signed up with. Haklo will email you a reset link. Tap the link from the same device you want to sign in on; the link expires after a short window for security.
I have two Haklo accounts and want to merge them
We don't support merging accounts today. The closest path is to pick the one you want to keep, and migrate any data manually by re-creating it under that account. (One Haklo account belongs to one family; the underlying assumption is one human, one account.)
My subscription was charged but the app doesn't show Plus
Try Settings → Plus → Restore Purchases. If that doesn't resolve it within a few minutes, email hello@haklo.app with your account email and an approximate purchase time and we'll reconcile it.
Someone in my family deleted something I want back
Removing a family member from the roster deletes their authored content. There's no undo on this from the app today. If you need to recover something, email hello@haklo.app — we may be able to restore from backup depending on how recently it happened, but we can't promise it.
