Voice is part of Haklo Plus. It lets your family hold a gathering by talking instead of typing — and lets an away member speak their rounds into their own phone. This page explains how it works, how to turn it on, and what happens to the audio.
What Voice is
The hardest part of a family meeting on a phone is the phone. Voice takes the keyboard out of the way:
- In the room: set one phone in the middle of the table and have the conversation. Haklo asks each round out loud and keeps the pace; the only thing anyone taps is who's speaking. When you finish, Haklo has a transcript ready, sorted by who said what.
- Away this week: a member who can't be in the room can say their answers out loud in one short recording instead of thumb-typing four rounds. Haklo transcribes it, sorts it into the rounds, and drops the words into their form as a draft.
Turning it on
Settings → Recording → "Offer recording at gatherings." A parent or guardian flips the switch once; from then on, Haklo asks "Record this gathering?" at the start of each one. It's a per-gathering choice, never automatic — and everyone in the room is asked before recording starts. If your family includes children, a parent confirms consent for them each session.
While Haklo is transcribing after a gathering, your home screen keeps you posted — you'll see a card when the transcript is ready to review, and a calm retry if something went wrong. You don't have to sit and wait.
You review before anything is saved
Voice never files anything on its own. The transcript is a draft:
- In the room, Haklo shows you each voice it heard. You name the ones that are your family and ignore the rest — the TV, a neighbor, a call on speaker. Only the voices you claim are kept, and only the excerpt you approve is saved to your family's record.
- What each person shared — their one thing, priority, goal — comes back as proposals the facilitator reads, reassigns, edits, and confirms. Nothing is filed until a person says so.
- On the away path, the transcript drops into your form as editable text. You read it back, change whatever you want, and send it — exactly as if you'd typed it. Nothing goes to your family until you choose to send.
This human step is the whole point: it's what makes a spoken answer yours, the same way a typed one is.
What happens to the audio
- The audio is deleted once the transcript is ready. The one exception is a family in the room who turns on Settings → Recording → "Keep recording audio" to keep their recordings as keepsakes. On the away path, the audio is always deleted.
- Transcription happens in the cloud for this first version. To be plain about it: the audio is sent to a transcription service and comes back as text. We say so clearly wherever it's true.
- Coaching never reads your raw recording. Haklo's AI only ever sees the words your family reviewed and chose to keep — never the raw transcript of the room.
