Our Roots
Now live · Haklo PlusRoots are the things your family keeps living out. Haklo can notice a pattern across your gatherings and bring it back to you. Whether it’s true, and what to call it, is yours.
Our Roots is live now for Haklo Plus families. It draws on the gatherings you’ve already had — and every one you have from here gives your family more to name.
Short enough to say out loud. Specific enough that everyone knows when you’re living it and when you’re not.
Most families end up with four or five. They don’t arrive all at once, and none of them arrive finished. One surfaces after the third gathering where the same thing came up. Another comes from a question nobody had gotten around to asking.
Two kinds of thing show up in Our Roots, and they never wear the same label.
Both cards below are examples. A real one would come from your own gatherings.

We show up for each other
Conversation starter · not inferred by Haklo
When someone in the family is having a hard week, what do we do?
Nothing in your gatherings suggested this one. It’s a question worth asking anyway, and the card says so.
Same words, different origin. You should never have to guess which is which, so we don’t make you.
Naming a Root takes about five minutes, usually at the end of a gathering. Haklo suggests wording. Your family throws it out or writes over it.
The last two are where it gets real. “We show up for each other” is a phrase. “We show up for each other means somebody drives to the airport” is a Root.
These are the conversation starters Haklo hands families. You don’t need the app to use them. Pick one at dinner this week and see where it goes.
If one of them goes somewhere, that’s the kind of thing Haklo is built to keep.
It offers words. The ones that stay are the ones your family typed over them.
There is no score on “we tell each other the truth,” and there won’t be one.
It works on the shape of your gatherings, not on what was said in them.
We don’t sell them, share them, or train anything on them.
A Root doesn’t live in a settings screen. It goes into your family record, next to the gatherings that produced it. Read back a year later and the Roots are what holds the rest together.
Fifteen minutes, one phone passed around the table, four rounds. Roots draw on the gatherings you’ve already had, so the sooner your family starts, the more there is to notice — and to name.
Our Roots is part of Haklo Plus. The weekly gathering is, and stays, free.
