Your family's Record and your coaching message history serve different purposes. The Record holds entries your family keeps. Coaching messages are generated suggestions. Some saved family data can inform future coaching even after those messages are cleared.
Does Haklo read my messages?
Haklo’s AI processes content you share to provide features such as transcription, coaching, and requested Librarian reviews. This is inference: using a model to produce a response. It is intended functionality, and is different from training a model on your content.
Your family’s content is not used to train AI models. People at Haklo do not routinely review it. Operational access is restricted and logged; this does not mean employees are technically unable to access data.
The Librarian can review recent messages in your Haklo family thread when it is enabled and you request a review. That review happens in the cloud and produces suggestions; your family chooses which suggestions to keep. This is separate from coaching, which can use saved gathering answers and family preferences. Haklo does not access conversations in other messaging apps.
What does Haklo know about us?
Coaching can use your roster, saved gathering answers, and previously generated arc context. With the Librarian enabled on Plus or Culture, it can also use the five most recent saved family preferences. Raw gathering transcripts and shared stories are excluded from coaching. Clearing your coaching messages leaves those saved sources in place, so future coaching can still be personalized.
What clearing coaching messages does
In the updated app, open Family, then Settings · What Haklo knows. The screen lists coaching sources and shows your Record entry count. Clear my coaching messages removes your generated message history. It does not delete or edit Record entries, gathering answers, family preferences, generated arcs, or another member's coaching messages. It does not make coaching start from a blank page.
If your app does not yet have this screen, the existing coaching history control clears your messages with the same limited scope. The new screen makes the sources and scope visible together.
Keeping a recording or story
When you keep a recording with extracted gathering answers, the threshold shows the included answers and explains that coaching can use them. You can go back to edit or remove answers before confirming. Keeping an excerpt without answers does not add coaching answers.
Transcription processes a story recording in the cloud so your family can read the resulting words. Shared stories are not currently included in coaching queries; that feature scope is separate from the privacy commitments about training and human review. The teller can remove a shared story; do not assume that a shared story has the same edit controls as a manually filed Record entry.
Asking the Record
Ask the Record can retrieve non-story Record entries to answer a question. It is a separate feature from coaching. Shared content is available to the AI features that use it; the Record is not an AI-free vault.
Finding your family's words
The updated navigation is Table, Record, and Family. Gathering history and Heard notes remain accessible from Record. Existing gathering-history links still open your family's history. Your memoir is a rendering of the Record, not another store.
